Pitt Ventures Startup Academy

This self-paced program for faculty, staff, and/or students with Pitt intellectual property provides tailored support for your startup goals.  Utilizing the latest tools, techniques and external contacts, the Startup Academy aims to support and realize your startup aspirations.

This program allows innovators to tap the capabilities and resources of Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (OIE), as well as external specialists in the areas of regulatory affairs, fundraising, company formation and more.

You can expect a personalized curriculum structured around milestone-based achievements supplemented by seminars and guest speakers.  Although the program allows for flexible timing, it is anticipated that participants will complete it within 12-18 moths.

Throughout the program we will work with you and your team to develop an investment-ready business plan that includes recruiting critical team members, addressing important regulatory/code requirements, and identifying targeted investors. To increase the chances of success in the program, it is strongly recommended that applicants complete an NSF I-Corps short course prior to application.

Items that should already be in place and ready for review prior to applying are the following:

  • established intellectual property protection
  • current marketing briefs
  • documented customer interview diaries
  • an up-to-date pitch deck

If you have any questions before applying, please contact Tony Torres.
